English Language Day – Class 3, 4 & 5

Class 3

A word building vocabulary game in English was organised for the students of class 3. Students participated enthusiastically in the activity and came up with brilliant new words on the spot. The activity enhanced their vocabulary in the language and gave them hands on experience.

Class 4

Students of class 4 were encouraged to create news headlines on an A4 size sheet using cut outs of words from old newspapers. They really enjoyed doing this activity. Later they read out these news headlines assuming the roles of news anchors. It was a fun activity and winners with best work were short listed from every section. The habit of reading newspaper on a daily basis was also highlighted during this activity.

CLASS 5

Students of class 5 were asked to write a book review of a short story book or novel read of their choice.  They wrote a book review with an illustration using their creative flow of ideas. The students creatively illustrated the theme of the book and made impressive book covers. They also wrote the synopsis of the book, characters involved and the basic story line. Students read out the reviews on the books in the classroom. This activity enhanced their reading skills as well as comprehension skills.
