On July 11, 2025, Rev. Dr. Sahaya Thatheus Thomas, Bishop of Simla-Chandigarh Diocese, visited Carmel to meet and bless the school community. He was received by the Provincial Sister Maria Christi, the Manager Sister Isabel, the Principal Sister Shanta Fernandes, Vice Principal Sister Premalini, Pre Primary incharge Sister Meeta, Primary incharge Sister Shanti and Sister Lizzane. He was led by the school band to the auditorium, where the students of the primary welcomed him by showering rose petals. He was officially welcomed with a shawl by the Provincial, a potted plant by the Principal and a handmade card by the Manager. This was followed by a prayer for Bishop’s long and fruitful leadership and well being. A prayer dance was performed by the little ones of Pre-primary. Sister Shanta took the stage to express her gratitude and joy in welcoming Bishop Sahaya Thatheus Thomas to the school. The students of Primary School sang songs of celebration which was followed by a welcome dance. The students of the high school performed the traditional punjabi dance ‘Gidda’.
Bishop Sahaya Thatheus addressed the audience with an insightful talk about the importance of loving, admiring and nurturing Mother nature, who he said was as important as our own mother. He quoted the bible while explaining the importance of human intervention in preserving nature since it was given as a gift to mankind. The students and staff gathered around Bishop Sahaya Thatheus for photographs to capture this momentous ocassion.
