On July 28, 2025 Carmel Convent School got ready for yet another edition of Credence, the fourth time. This was a three day affair packed with action, creativity and the competitive spirit. Day 1 began with the school management welcoming the chief guest Professor Deepti Gupta and the judges for the day Dr Nirmala , Dr Vijaya and Ms Kiran Bala. The school band led them into the school auditorium. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, and invoking God’s blessings through prayer and a graceful prayer dance, followed by a melodious hymn sung by the Primary school choir.
Professor Deepti Gupta’s speech was filled with fond reminiscence of her days at Carmel as she urged the students to use all opportunities including digital ones to their advantage. The School Principal Sister Shanta Fernandes gave a warm welcome speech and officially declared the event open.
The events of Day 1 included News Anchoring and Stand-up Comedy by the English and Social Science Department. These fiercely contested competitions tested language skills and content writing. The topics given for News Anchoring were “Climate Change, Waste Segregation for Sustainability and Effects of AI on Human Mind”. For Stand up Comedy the topic was “When Your Cousin Scores 99% and You are the Black Sheep”.
Techmathos, also organised on the first day, was organized at two levels - Junior and Senior. This competition involved the teams gathering in the Escape Room where they were tested on their mathematical, logical and code writing skills. The teams enjoyed this exhilarating event.
Day 2 was packed with action once again as the teams took to stage to perform Nukkad Natak. This competition brought together two most unlikely subjects Hindi Language and Science. The teams showcased Hindi Language speaking skills, acting skills, content writing skills etc. The topic given was “Artificial Intelligence”.
The French department organized “Retour aux Racines”, a ramp walk with French fashion in 1940s and 50s as the theme. The teams displayed the famous French sartorial sense as the catwalked their way across the stage.
The artists from various schools participated in Pebble Craft, Mural Making and Découpage. The masterpieces created by the teams became a challenge for the judges to judge, as each one was unique and extremely creative.
Day 3 was a day to celebrate the musical talents from around the city, as various school teams participated in two very different genres. Swaranjali was a group Shabad singing competition in which schools showcased their classical devotional music talent. Later the teams contested as Western music bands.
This was followed by the closing ceremony where the chief guest was Ambassador Manpreet Vohra, IFS. In his speech to the audience, Ambassador Vohra appreciated the participants for their spirit and urged them to use these experiences and opportunities to hone their talent and add a new dimension to their personality. He gave away the prize for the overall best team to St. Anne’s School, as announced by the school Principal Sister Shanta Fernandes.
The Principal thanked everyone for their contribution towards making Credence IV a super success and officially declared the event closed. An electrifying Bhangra was the most apt way to conclude an action packed three day Credence.
