31st July is marked in the history of our nation as a day to remember our Martyr Shaheed-e-Azam Udham Singh. Today the students and staff gathered in the auditorium to pay tribute to this great son of India. The program started with prayers for those who sacrificed their lives for our nation. The school choir sang the patriotic song “Ae Watan”. This was followed by speeches on his life and journey. A student of class XI recited a self-composed poem in Hindi about Shaheed Udham Singh and his life. Another poem about his supreme sacrifice was recited in Punjabi. A short film depicting his life highlighted his travels, his transformation into a revolutionary, his revenge for the atrocities that his people faced and finally his martyrdom. A quiz was conducted on the life and legacy of Shaheed Udham Singh. The school Principal gave a speech about the learnings of such a remarkable life. She talked about fearlessness, justice and unity how these values could be adapted into a student’s life. The program concluded with the national anthem and prayer.
